News, Website Updates, Events, Etc.

  • 04-11-04 Well, it was fun while it lasted. Three months later, and we're being cut back to once a month. I've gotten a full-time job, and you've probably noticed the resulting lack of promotions. While the website is going strong, and we've got some good traffic on the forum, electronic promotions just aren't enough. I'm going to be working very hard to get the word out. I'm also looking for people intereted in helping out in exchange for free passes/drink tickets. Lots of flyering, all over Asheville, Knoxville, and Charlotte. If you're interested, contact me. Not all bad news, though. Standard Deviation's Fetish Playground has been a great success. I am constantly impressed with their incredibly professional setup. I couldn't ask for anything better. I keep hearing similar things from the clubgoers, too. I'm no longer DJing for the 80's nights. Between working full-time, and the night not being very successful, it just wasn't worth it. It's been doing better recently...but the music has gone a lot more mainstream. Oh well. It's still worth going to, and it's a lot better than the 80's nights at Broadway's. We're also no longer doing Goffee. I think I might try to start it up again, even if only as planning meeting for T5C.
  • 01-21-04 Bella Morte also put on a great show. It's been a while since I've updated, and there's lots to tell...
Most exciting, we're doing T5C twice a month now. With the exception of February (due to Valentine's Day), we'll be drinking and dancing together every 2nd and 4th Saturday. This is, of course, entirely due to the amazing support of everyone who continues to come and enjoy themselves.
I've also been able to organize an 80's night every Thursday night at Shotzy's. We had a great turnout for the first one, and I'm sure it'll only get better. You should come and check it out. Ladies get in free before midnight, the cover is only $2, and we're doing $2 drink specials. I'm spinning, so you know the music will be good. :)
Speaking of my other DJ gigs, I'm going to be spinning on 02/06/04 for the Goths on Weels party at Skatearound. This event will also be a fundraiser for Metamorphicon, a gaming convention happening in June.
We've had to change the nights we do Goffee to Tuesday nights. We're still getting together at the New French Bar downtown every week. You should drop by and say hello.
  • 11-10-03 The Last Dance and The Cruxshadows were amazing. Even though barely anyone showed up, I had a blast. Both bands put on a fantastic show, and were great to work with. I hope they do well in their travels, and will return to Asheville someday.
I would like to get some feedback about what you all think of having bands at T5C. To do it, we have to charge a little more for the show (since we have to pay the band!) But I know how much the economy sucks here, and I don't want to drive people away with rediculous prices. What do you think is fair? Is it worth it to you to pay a bit more for a good live act? Who would you most like to see come through Asheville? I'll set up a poll in the next few days, and hope everyone throws in their 2 cents.
  • 10-17-03 Still working on the site, and I think it's getting better daily. We had a fantastic turnout last Saturday; it just keeps getting better. Thanks again to all who came out and danced the night away...
We're on for Halloween; it'll be the best party in Asheville, no contest. Actually...there is a contest... We'll be awarding prizes for the best costumes. The categories are still a bit up in the air, but I think we'll have three prizes: One each for Best Sexy, Creative, and Undead.
We're also trying to bring in The Last Dance on 11/07/03. They're going to be through here around then, and I think it would ba a great show. I would like to start bringing in more good bands. I'm even thinking about finding out who's available, and putting up some polls on the website to let you vote on who we bring in next.
Once we start getting the club twice a month, we could do one club-night, and one band-night. It would mean upping the door price to $10 for the band-nights (the club-nights would remain the same). But it would be well worth it.
  • 09-18-03 Site redesign is under way. I'm also working on a logo for The 5th Circle. Tell me what you think!
  • 09-15-03 The new flyers are up! We had a fantastic crowd this weekend, with almost 200 people in attendance. A large group of very cool people came down from Knoxville for the festivities. We did so well that the management hinted at possibly doing this twice a month in the future. We will be doing so in October, having a special Halloween Party on 10-31-03. And it's looking better for Bella Morte to come down in November. We might also be able to book The Last Dance for that night. Stay tuned...
  • 08-10-03: Thanks to everyone who made it out last night. We had a great turnout, and are on again for next month at Shotzy's. I'm working on getting images of the night developed; check back soon for those. I'm also gathering together some images of the items for sale by the vendors. I added a spot on the front page for you to put in song requests.
